Hoke surpasses 100 yards, scores 2 touchdowns

Pottsville used a strong defensive effort to defeat Blue Mountain 12-7 on Friday night at the Eagles' Nest.

Jeremy Hoke scored twice, including the game-winning touchdown on a 1-yard run with just over 2 minutes remaining.

Hoke finished with 19 carries for 156 yards and scored the game's first touchdown on a 45-yard run. It was the third game in a row that the sophomore has rushed for more than 100 yards.

Blue Mountain went ahead in the second quarter on a 1-yard run by fullback Dillon Englert.

After the teams played scoreless ball through the third quarter, Pottsville (2-1, 1-0) went on a 67-yard march to take the lead.

The Eagles (2-1, 0-1) drove to the Crimson Tide 8-yard line before the Pottsville defense forced a turnover on downs to seal the victory.

NOTES: Pottsville leads the all-time series 35-9. ... The victory was Pottsville's fifth straight in the series as coach Kevin Keating is 5-0 against Blue Mountain since returning for his second stint with the Tide. OVerall, Keating is 13-2 against the Eagles. ... Jacob Baskerville recorded his second interception of the season. ... Pottsville recovered three fumbles.
